Annual Masquerade Ball, Belgravia

London Deputy Ambassador to the UK

Caricaturist Mr Sketchum in his Austrian "disguise" - minus the Paul Smith shirt - provides playful party entertainment ('ball games') at the London Embassy of Hungary's annual 'winter/masked/Venetian/masquerade' (?!) ball.

"Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask, and he will tell you the truth." – Oscar Wilde

It's usually me who provides the guests with the entertainment (& makes them flip their wigs), but when after I'd sketched him with it on, this gentleman abruptly whipped his hairpiece off, I jumped out of my seat!

"No-one reveals themself as they are; we all wear a mask and play a role." - Arthur Schopenhauer

"What do you call a masked moose? Anonymoose." -
