Here's the typical wedding drill: I usually kick off during the drinks reception, right after the 'I dos' if there's been a ceremony. By this time, the bride and groom are often off on a photoshoot marathon, perfecting their 'smile for the 100th time' faces. My mission? To swoop in and save the day, preventing the dreaded 'dull lull' and keeping the guests from getting so bored they start pondering the deeper meaning of canapes!
There's a TV show called "Escape to the Château" (it's been on Channel 4 for years). I got hired to sketch at a lush cockney wedding held at the eponymous bijou castle of the genial Dick Strawbridge (see above) and the bubbly Angel Adorée in northwest France, and to go with the French rural thing kitted myself out in a snappy french ensemble.
Once the formalities have run their course and the guests start to loosen up, I find myself in high demand. The funnier the sketches, the better!
